It'll pass. This stuff sells, and it's cheap to make. Look at a show like Star Trek - any version, it doesn't matter. They had elaborate sets, big names, expensive special effects. It cost a bundle to make just one episode. "Deal or No Deal" costs them Howie's salary, a few hundred bucks for each of the girls that carries a case down bleachers, and if they find a greedy but stupid contestant, about $5000 for prize money.
But sooner or later someone will pitch and sell an intelligent script, and a brave network executive whose shows have poor ratings will take a chance, and they'll have a breakout hit. Someone else will copy the format, and pretty soon the weak unreality shows will fade, one by one.

Yes, and other shows just aren't as good, which is why I don't really watch TV anymore. (except for news)

I... cannot.... stand..... yet...... another..... damn..... reality.... tv.... show......! they are disgusting. jeez. TV has gone down the tubes. it's all mtv and vh1's fault... i don't know how people can watch that at all. it's pure trash, basura, αÏοÏÏίμμαÏα, rifiuti, détritus, _ lixo, å±. <--- that just means trash in other languages. lol
