'llysa has given you the physiological aspect of your daydreaming which is accurate. If your daydreaming has caused you to loose touch with reality you would know this because it would be interfering with almost every aspect of life. If your relationships with others are stormy and you tend to drift and avoid confrontation thus going into your own little world then you either need to learn how to better cope with life and your problems, or learn to focus your energy toward positive goals and work to attain them. Your daydreaming could be a lack of mental motivation and maybe you need to develop more interests in your life. I also want to add that to a certain extent daydreaming is very "normal" and everyone does it. We daydream for all different reasons. For fun I will name a few.... We daydream when we are in love (high serotonin levels)..We daydream when we have unresolved conflicts, which need to be worked out so that you are not preoccupied with disturbances. We daydream when we fantasize, very normal! We daydream about our future, we daydream about fun vacations we are looking forward to. We daydream when we are tired for the obvious reason that are brains need some rest and are not mentally sharp at the moment. So see there are lots of reasons for daydreaming. You just need figure out if it is excessive and interfering with your life or if it is just a nice mental escape once in awhile..Good luck.........laceyemerill

There's nothing WRONG. Its just that it doesn't help you much. Why daydream to escape reality? Daydream ABOUT a reality. That kind of daydreaming will probably help you a lot more.

There is nothing "wrong". There is just a lack of coping tools available to deal with "reality", whatever that may be. It is a matter of maladjustment problems, but it doesn't make the behavior "wrong". Escapism is a common tendency humans have to cope.

It is important to realize that the excess fantasizing lies to you... because every time one is reminded of "reality", when the fantasy fades away for just a minute, and "reality" intrudes and one sees their life the way it is in that moment (the "truth"), they need to realize that what is actually happening is that fantasy is masking the "truth", and that the truth, whatever it may be, will never lie to them like the fantasy does consistently.

There's the coping tool. ;)

having a pipe dream is something all persons do - it provides us a huge gamble to think of issues, and additionally "shall we our ideas wander". And, while our lives are not going like we predict of they could desire to, daydreams enable us to think of how issues may well be if issues have been extra valuable. i might wager your daydreams being "dramas" which you're imagining your existence extra "spiced up". melancholy could reason the daydreams to "close down", your ideas could have plenty occurring that it somewhat is overwhelmed - and that takes faraway from the daydreams. Being a fifteen 365 days previous is complicated sufficient because it somewhat is, without the different issues you have dealing with your ideas. between the flaws that happens for the period of your teenager years is you "define your self". it somewhat is somewhat complicated and complicated, noticeably while there is no person to help. once you assert "I hardly depart my domicile", that's no longer solid for you, and can upload on your confusion - and it reasons social rigidity disease, too. i comprehend being bullied became into in no way solid (i've got been there, too) - yet you could desire to a technique or the different shop going. i will upload extra to this later... ultimate of luck to you :-)

yes, you shouldn't be trying to escape reality.. day dreaming in and of itself is fine though... but if you don't deal with reality you will never change it... this is what happens to many gamers also.. they get lost in the game world to step away from reality and never change their lives for the better... you have to wake up and start working on what bothers you.

When it is excessive it is an escape mechanism. Some people do this to the extreme and sleep all day too..that is the next step.

What is it that you want to avoid? Can you face it? Can you change it?
