Hummmm....I am trying to see the connection that you are making between the pet over population problem and women who are worried that they might be pregnant.
There are some valid comparisons in that we have a huge problem with pet over population and also an epidemic of teenage pregnancy. Millions of healthy puppies and kittens are killed because no one wants them. Millions of healthy babies are killed because no one wants them. Those two facts are true but that is the point where the similarity ends, in my opinion.
The answer to the first problem of course is to have your pet neutered or spayed. I assume that you are NOT advocating that for young women who do not wish to have a baby yet.(Neutering teenage boys would not garner any favor either)
I read many, many letters on here expressing the opinion that you mention. Young women are constantly being told to use reliable birth control, told to go to planned parenthood or to abstain.
I believe that the good wishes that you mention are for the women who are already pregnant and have some type of question. I understand that as I feel that young women who choose to take responsibility for their actions should be congratulated and encouraged for doing the moral, courageous thing. Pregnancy is not a disease nor is it a death sentence. Young women need to be reminded that all their dreams can come true WITH a baby. Colleges are not closed to pregnant women. The door of opportunity does not slam shut because one has had a baby! Life goes on and many, many women have gone on to have wonderful, fulfilling lives, with a baby tucked right in to it. Young women need to be reminded that it is not necessary to kill their unborn babies in order to go on with their lives. The bleak picture that is often painted of the young woman whose life is ruined by having a baby should have been put away 20 years ago. There was a time when it might have been true but thankfully those days are long over. Colleges have day care that is often free for their students. Unmarried women can get wonderful financial aide to go to college! There are lots of programs to help them with every aspect of their lives. We need to make abortion a last resort and not the first avenue for dealing with a surprise pregnancy! There are too many dead babies and too many mothers of dead babies. That is where the tragedy lies, not in bringing a new little life into the world.
A child is not a puppy or a kitten. Its life should not be prevented as if it were an unwanted animal. We are talking about infinitely precious little babies here.
I just don't think you can draw a comparison between unwanted dogs and unwanted babies. It is simply not a valid comparison for many reasons.
I do agree with you that both things are cause for concern, but in entirely different ways and for drastically different reasons.

A lot of people are very harsh and judgemental. Because this is an open forum to the world, we get the see the good, the bad, the ugly and the absolutely unbelievable.
I get totally fed up with some of the absolute ignorance about having unprotected sex and unwanted children also, so I try to help where I can, and I actually end up ignoring a lot of it, or I would be too upset to concentrate on anything else.
I hope that your question and following statement gets read carefully by a lot of the people on here who may be irresponsible in their own lives.
Take a deep breathe and try to have a good rest of your day.

two words, Global Economy...........Yes Victory is an American Company, so is Harley Davidson......Yet parts on both bikes are manufactured all over the world. Have been for years. Most electrical parts are from Japan, Leather comes from Central and South America, front forks from Japan again. its called Outsourcing. In a nutshell, yes they claim that Victory is a "true American Motorcycle" what they mean to say is truely assembled in america motorcycle.

I don't get why people who try and have all means to raise a child can't have one. and all these stupid little girls get knocked up and give it to their parents and then have a few more kids they don't care for. Something just isn't rite there.

*stands up and applauds*
If you don't want to get pregnant, either don't have sex or PLEASE use some form of birth control.
If you can't afford birth control, you can't afford a baby.
If you do get pregnant and don't want to be pregnant, and it's because you didn't use birth control, please do not use abortion as a form of birth control.
