I totally agree with Meems and the 2 before him/her. You need to understand that there are lots of other people applying for jobs. Companies need to be very selective in who they hire. Once they do hire someone, they're basically stuck with them and it's hard to get rid of someone who may not be what they wanted.

Give prospective employers a reason to want to hire you.

Make them think that if they don't hire you it will be their mistake. Don't just apply for a job, apply for a career that you'll not only qualified but at a company that you will love working for.

Check yourself, your sentence structure, spelling and grammar on your applications.

Don't just send our resumes blindly. Find a company you want to work for and hand deliver your application to their human resources department (if possible). If they don't have a position you want right now, consider asking about another position within the company just to get your foot in the door. if you have to mail your resume, call the company and find out who does the hiring and mail it to them directly. Good luck! And don't be afraid to post your resume on Monster.com or other job sites.

maybe you're applying for jobs that your background is totally wrong for, and you need to change your focus. You don't say way your job history is like or what kind of applications you are filing now, but maybe you need to re-evaluate what type of jobs you are applying for.
