I suppose it depends on which Republican gets elected. I doubt if many would be that vindictive, though. I think most of the candidates are a little disturbed by the war, anyway. McCain came out saying that he thought the whole war had been mismanaged, and Rep. Ron Paul reminded everyone that he had voted against the war from the very beginning, even before the Democrats. So, I doubt if either of them would give the Generals a hard time about it.

I don't think you will have to worry about another Republican occupying the Oval Office again for several election cycles. After the experience of Dubya, I don't think the American public is willing to flagellate themselves again with another of his ilk. John McCain is not acceptable to most of the public because of his defense of Dubya's Folly, and Giuliani is not acceptable to the Bible thumping, arch-conservative, moss-backed, fundamentalist Christian right due to his abortion stand. The rest of the Republican field are non-entities. So the Republicans stand little to no chance of success in next year's presidential election. Also, I think that the Republican seats in Congress will grow fewer next year due to their obdurate support for a maniac who refuses to face reality. Therefore, I don't think the generals who spoke out against the bogus conflict in Iraq have anything to worry about.

when, not if.

they will just disappear, republicans are close to the military, there will be some retirements, but most of the generals speaking against the administration are already retired, no one would put their job on the line.

Of course.

"... will there be ..." Hey, are any of those (retired or soon to be) generals getting paid fantastic salaries to work for any Military-Industrial Complex companies?!

Try speaking out publicly against your boss and see if you still have a job afterwards.

I don't think you need to worry about the republicans getting re-elected.

I doubt it's going to happen. Bush is vetoing himself a Democrat in office.
