5th symphony - was called "A fifth of Beethoven"

Many other of Beethoven's works have been "modernized", but I think this is the one everybody thinks of as the Disco one.

Little bit of Beethoven trivia: Much of his greatest composing was done AFTER he was completely deaf! (Probably listening to too much disco)

In the 1970s Electric Light Orchestra included the opening bars of the symphony as an introduction to their cover of Chuck Berry's Roll Over Beethoven.

A disco version, called "A Fifth of Beethoven," was made by Walter Murphy during the disco era of the 1970s. This version was featured in the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

There is indeed - was on the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack and more recently on a Smirnoff add where the guy gets turned into a diamond. It's called 'A Fifth of Beethoven' by Walter Murphy.

The song was "A Fifth of Beethoven" based on, obviously, Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. It was recorded in 1976 by Walter Murphy. The song was also sampled by Thicke in his song "When I Get You Alone."

Check out Freddy Mercury and Queen the band. Could have been them sometime in the 80s...

P.s. the classical composers of yesteryear were the ROCK stars of their day. Mostly they were boozed up or high on something and died young. Mozart - never without a bottle in his hand.
