If they aren't, please help me understand why they won't give living in the same neighborhood a try. They still move in the summer when African Americans move in. It's crazy, we work together, then go to separate train stations at the end of the day.

I think everybody has a little racist to them. It all depends on the person. I am white and married a Hispanic man. I have a couple black friends and a few Mexican friends. Its not the color of ones skin that makes me prejudice, its the attitude inside the skin that does. Like one guy said to your ?; when we all start thinking of ourselves as Americans, then we all become equal. But that day will never come, so until then, you deal with it as it comes your way. Oh and since you are comparing blacks and whites, its not just the whites that tend to be prejudice towards the blacks. I have met black people who are still fighting the civil war. Like this generation personally had anything to do with that, regardless of what color your skin is. But anyway, its not the color of skin, its whats inside. Question for you: You consider yourself an African AMERICAN, right? Well, how does it make you feel when Mexicans, at a school in CA, can raise OUR flag upside down UNDER the Mexican flag? Now, those mexicans I have a problem with. I think you get my point. Stop looking at the color of skin and start looking at the mind and soul.

I'm white but not racist. I live in a large city with people from every ethnic background. I have bigger issues with the whites than i do anyone else, half of them still walk around like they are so superior. Granted where I am at now, if I go to the grocery store hardly anyone speaks English, so I am kind of at a loss if I need to ask a question. Not a big deal though, I just wish that speaking English would be a prerequisite to immigration to the US or Canada!!

Some are still. They were raised to hate other races and refuse to change their ways. Some just hate on African Americans, others hate any race that is not white.

I wish we could change their way of thinking. The only way I feel we can change them is not to hate them back, but show how much we care about them. That people can change.

Just don't sink yourself to their level. Just remember that there are many more BETTER people out there then those neighbors.

They are the ones paying high cost to move because of their stupidity.

I am not racist. Never have been. I don't get your question because I have never noticed that type of behavior. I go about my daily business, and never notice what race is getting on and off the train, or who is moving in and out of the neighborhood. All I notice is look the train is full/empty or we have new neighbors, or we have neighbors who are moving. Everyone is just "people" to me. I know that racism is out there, it is on the news and I know that people experience it everyday--but I am not one of the people that treats anyone any different than anyone else.

I have come to the conclusion that it is more than a black or white thing. Let me tell you okay what I have experienced with racism. First of all, my great grandparents on my father's side came to America from Poland. (Never slave owners, right?) Now, on my mother's side I am native american and spanish (argentina-great grandpa) I have blue eyes, brown hair, and light skin. Point blank - I check caucasion. But it's funny when I get called white girl and get racial remarks thrown at me from black people, when my people were enslaved here in America on their OWN land. And the polish side had nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, blacks are very much more American than me (except on the native amer. part) I totally respect people of all colors (obviously I know where I have come from) How can we judge color? Because we are ignorant to the fact of ones origins to begin with. It is plain and simple and people have been saying it forever = ignorance. People let their emotions, negativity, prejudice, and judgmental attitudes get in the way of actually using their brains - and this comes from every race all over the globe. It's pathetic. You are right when you say "it's crazy." God bless you.

I'm white, my next door neighbors are black, and I'm not moving anywhere. They seem like nice people. If I'm racist, it's not toward African Americans. Racism by whites toward blacks is so small that it's not really an issue these days. The bigger problems now seem to be between all races and the massive influx of illegal immigrants.

First off, Negroes refuse to let racism die. They constantly complain about slavery. They are only one of many peoples that have suffered this indignity. Jews were slaves for thousands of years, Europeans were enslaved many times by many different rulers, and the list goes on and on. Negroes forget that it was the wealthy that enslaved them,When African tribes went to war with each other, the victors enslaved the losers. The same white people they hate, went to war (north vs. South) to win their freedom. Tell me if these sound racist.....Black entertainment television, Black Mayors conference, NAACP. ***** leaders will not permit racism to die, because then they would have to get a real job. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Lois Farakahn etc...
You ever watch the show on t.v. called COPS? Hopefully one day everyone will take God's teachings seriously and everyone will call each other brothers and sisters.

Examine your question here why don't you? If you regard one group as "African-Americans" and the other as white; what gives? I don't consider myself a "Danish-American" just because my grandparents came from Denmark. I am an American, with a cynical disposition. When the "African-Whatevers" start thinking of themselves as just plain old Americans the whole situation changes. Enough of this them & they stuff.
