I for one am currently drafting a long-winded email to my MP giving them what-for, about picking relevant issues, and wasting time and taxpayer money. It's a shame I have to be drawn into this time waste but if we don't complain it will just happen again.

My biggest concern is how it hurts the Team. Not just the distraction. This is sort of their B team. They went through a list of players long enough to make a team, that all refused. Well all of a sudden, I don't blame them for refusing to go, as they put up their time and their good name, only to be shot down. I think when the next call goes out for volunteers the list of refusals is going to be longer.

Oh. Politicians got me missing the other important stuff. I would also like to try find a email for Shane Doan in Russia. As a Canadian, I want to thank him for being there and wish him good luck.

The NHL investigated and dropped the matter. What that says to me is that there was no evidence to support the linesman's claim. I believe you hit this one on the head with the grandstanding remark. They have no proof that Doan did anything wrong, yet seek to punish him.

I think it is rather silly. Are there not more important things for the government to be concerned with....like health care, education and foreign relations? I heard on my local radio station today that the Prime Minister said that he would like to leave hockey decisions up to hockey's governing boards and then when they lose, he can complain just like everyone else! I think that was a great thing to say. He must think that this is petty and rediculous as much as I do!

You nailed it. Nothing more than a little publicity for those politicians who can get no press any other way. It's a shame really. The head of the IIHF came out today and said it's a ridiculous disgrace. He's right.

The fact that the issue was raised by the official languages committee says it all. A bunch of Quebecois crying, the provincial sport.

Yes, we are cursed with some very, very petty and stupid politicians -- there is nothing they won't stoop to, to try and score a few cheap points, even at the cost of our national hockey team's reputation

See my question about Shane Doan:

And it's mostly Libs and NDP's and Blocheads doing it.

I think our pitiful mp's should keep their ***** noses out of hockey and concentrate on issues that need to be addressed like crime and taxes and poverty and so on! What a ***** joke!
