While I applaud your convictions – you will be sitting around while the rest of us go about our business. The price of gas is high, but one day even if you got everyone in the US to not consume it won’t make a difference in the world markets for gasoline. It may however cost some workers their jobs.

Oh yeah, that will work SO well. Just like the dozens of other one-day boycotts there have been. Fill up on the 15th or the 16th....you're going to fill up either way. You are the airhead if you think you will make any difference at all. You're an even bigger airhead for beliveing that the oil companies lost $300 billion. That is a total lie that either you are trying to make other people believe or someone else got you to stupidly believe it.

You really want to make a difference? Get rid of your car. Can't do it? Then too bad. Suck it up and prepare for $4/gallon plus. Frankly, I'm going to fill up on the 15th just to spite fools like you. Besides, with the cost going up almost every day, I'll be sure to pay less than you do when you go to fill up on the 16th.

When will this myth die? Shouldn't there be a limit to how many times this question can be asked? What you are proposing will do nothing to, "send a message" to the oil companies. They laugh at you while they continue to post record profits. Whatever is not bought on the 15th will be bought on the 14th and 16th. Not that consumers have no say so. If one major oil company was targeted so that no one bought fuel from that company it would make an interesting dilemma for the whole industry. It could possibly make things more competitive thus lowering the price.....maybe. But this is only a short term solution. We need to continue to try and develop alternate energy sources so that we are not dependent on foreign countries.

I applaud everyone's efforts to not buy gas on one day, but really, it will not make much of a difference. Let's face it, the gas prices go up every Memorial Day, or a few weeks before, and Summer gas prices are predicted to be over 3.00 a gallon.

What would really work to cause a demand for less gas is to conserve driving efforts; don't speed, and cut out unnecessary trips.

Speculators are the ones driving the prices up. Every time an ant sneezes in the gulf, the price goes up ! We've got tankers sitting in the Gulf that are just waiting for prices to go up to the highest bidders, then they will release their oil. It's a totally unfair situation. We're being gouged for sure.

A truly effective measure would be for everyone to protest on Washington. Has someone gotten that idea yet?????

im in. It is good practice for us. A little organized labor demonstration of sorts. may 15th.. got it.

I would like to comment on the guy below who rants about how inferior everyone is to him. I think it is insecurity which makes him lash out at others. Either insecurity or a deeply seated hatred of human beings. Maybe he's not actually human the same way we are. Maybe he is a virus that infected a human soul - and now enjoys a human body on earth.
We really don't know.... Anyway - I personally wish that people like this, with menace in their hearts - would leave America on May 15th - before they get us all killed and or dumb down our children any further..... HEre's his brilliant posting :

Jeshhh And when did the Government at a law saying that it is the US citizens right to cheap gas? I must have missed that one somewhere along with the government blowing up tower 7 and the fake moon landing.

I have heard this from two other places and it sounds like a great idea. The last time this happened, gas went down 30 cents over night. It seems like the more money companies make the more they want. I have been out most everyday and I could use a break in cost.
I am in!
