This has been proven to be a falsehood.

Even the show Mythbusters ran a test. They taught goldfish to go through a maze. The more times they ran it, the quicker they got through it. Proving that they have larger memories than once thought.

Some fish, especially cichlids, recognize their owners even. There are some of the more aggressive cichlids that will allow their owners to come to the tank and hand feed them but actually get ANGRY and hit at the aquarium walls when someone else approaches the aquarium!

Fish have more than a 3-second memory. They think that every time your hand is near, they will get fed. Most people think that fish are just clueless but they are actually very good at rembering things. Try other things to see if they work for you.

You are right. That's called lab evidence that the statement that fish have a very short memory (3 seconds, 15 seconds ..whatever) is false. Many tests have been done that disproven the myth that fish have very short memories, butlike many other things, people refuse to inform themselves.

Fish do not have a 3 second or 2 second memory. They however do not have the ability to store complex memories. Things like tumbling eggs and mates and in your case the food god... are different. They are prewired for such thing. Like birds that know to migrate.

Training is actually a type of memory. There is no three second memory thing because how would some fish remember it even has babies let alone take care of them if they only had three seconds of memory?

right, in memory there are two parts short term and long term people are correct when they say fish have 3 second memory but thats how long the short term memory lasts for, all thats happened is u've done it so meny times that its gone into there long term memory which to psychologist knowledge has no end.

fish have much better memories than a few seconds. I would venture to say that they have years of memories. The larger fish have better memories....(larger brains)
