Is there a way to travel from Chicago to Cincinnati,get there say on a Tuesday morning and leave Cincinnati on a Tuesday night to get back to Chicago,without being able to rent a car?

Yeah its just a lil puddle jumper. Fly. Shouldn't take long at all. You flying Ohare or Midway--cause thats a difference. But I use ww.sidestep.com (though you could call up your individual carrier) and just put in a random Tuesday...came up with $185 on Northwest, $250 airtran.

Well, you could try Megabus. It's a lowfare bus service around the midwest. I did a search and it's about $20 bucks each way. You probably have to leave Monday night to get there by Tuesday morning and leave very early Wednesday morning (about 1:20 a.m.) to get back. But it might be the cheapest and fastest way to get back and forth. Doing a quick turn around like that on a plane will probably cost an arm and a leg. And not sure how quickly an Amtrak train makes a return trip.

Oh, and you have to book a ticket on Megabus on line. No walk up window sales. And they don't have a specific bus depot. They make stops are special points in the city, so you have to go to one of them first to get the bus.
