I have bought a second hand laptop that runs windows ME and has been working perfectly until I tried to hook up a new Lexmark 1200 series printer. I put in the only disk supplied with the printer marked "installation software and user's guide" and then I began trying to install. It always gets to a certain point and then says "The file lxczinst.dll was not found. Windows needs the disk labeled 'Lexmark 1200 series Driver disk' to continue. This disk may be provided by your computer or device manufacturer"..................WHICH of course it's not, and so I press skip, skip and then it takes me to installation wizard, which begins to work, and then stops suddenly and says "Error copying file lexpps.ex_."....................Please help, is this my computer or the printer? What do I do?

Go to the Lexmark site and download the latest driver and software for it. Your Disc is funky!

Read the label on the Installation CD, it probably doesn't support WinME.

Look for the proper drivers on the Lexmark site.

Try installing a Generic Driver, and so long as you don't need a Post Script driver, then you are fine

go to to your control panel and hit the add/remove and uninstall the printer. try to reinstall it. mke sure you have the port set as your default your computer should find the new hardware and then restart your computer. the problem with ME some euipment may not be compatible, you said it was used so you may need to uninstall the previous owners printer, it may still be on there and set as the default.
