STEELERS

2007-05-04 01:34:41 · answer #1 · answered by chris m 5 · 4 2

No question about it, its the Steelers. You see terrible towels waving at every game they're in...home or away. The only people that think that Dallas is America's team are people from Texas. The Steelers have a nationwide fan base. In fact, almost every state in the country has a Steelers bar for out of state fans to watch the games each weekend. Here we go Steelers!!

For me this is a two part answer. Overall probably the Cowboys. But Steeler fans tend to travel with their team more than any other in the NFL. I've seen road games where there were more Steeler Fans in the Stadium that the home team !!

Steelers. No question. These are the facts as to why. FACTS!

Ever watch a game on TV when the Steelers play in Cleveland, Washington DC, Miami, Arizona, even San Diego. You will see almost as many yellow towels as you see the home team's colors, sometimes more.

The link directly below absolutely, 100% proves the Steelers are America's team. It's a list of Steeler bars and places where Steeler fans watch games around the country and even the world. Does your team have this? No, they don't.

They're very high in merchandise sales and are #1 in television ratings, locally and nationally. Among all NFL teams, they have the strongest local market every week. What makes them America's team is that they have set ratings records with their nationally televised games. Super Bowl XL was the highest rated Super Bowl since 1996, which happened to be the last time the Steelers played in a Super Bowl. Besides Super Bowl XL, the AFC championship game that season was the highest rated television program in that 3 month span. It was also the highest rated conference championship ever. The Steelers first two games last year, both nationally televised on NBC and ESPN, set ratings records for those networks. The second game, against Jacksonville, which was boring as hell, is actually the highest rated program in ESPN history. Fox's highest rated game last season was Steelers vs. Saints. No other teams put up these numbers.

The real reason the fan base is so strong and widespread is that it was built in the late 70's. Thats about right before america started selling out and began importing a lot of steel products. A lot of Pittsburgh steel mills shut down and people lost their jobs. They migrated elsewhere in the country for work, but took the pride in their team with them and passed it down to the next generation in their families.

HAHA, who said redskins? I went to a steelers redskins preseason game two years ago and there were literally just as many steeler fans as skins fans, if not more. The packers are close, I'd say their fanbase is definitely one of the strongest because of the 30 year waiting list, but the fanbase isn't as big or widespread.

Between those two teams? Definately the Steelers. But honestly, I think the Packers have got a fan base right up there with the Steelers. What someone else said was true, it's not possible to get season tickets to the Packers unless your grandparents or great grandparents get on the list then pass it down the family. I'm on the list right now and I beleive I'm in the ten thousands. Also, anywhere they go, you can always see Green and Gold in the stands when the Pack are playing.

GO PACK GO

Neither. Raider fans are EVERYWHERE... GB, KC and Denver probably have the best fans, and it shows when they play home games. I'd rate Saints and Lions fans above Steeler and Cowboy fans because it's easy to root for a winner, not so easy to root for a loser. NO and DET have traditionally been VERY bad teams, but their fans still support them. It's the same way in baseball. Cubs fans are the best fans in the world because they ALWAYS show up, even though their team sucks EVERY year. Yankee fans will NEVER impress me because the Yankees are supposed to win... They outspend EVERYBODY else every year. Same goes for Steeler and Cowboys fans, both teams have been successful more often than not which makes it easy for the bandwagon fans to stay on board.

I like America's Team (Cowboys), but the Steelers win this battle b/c of a deeper fan base. Their franchise has been built on excellence since the mid-60's. Not true for the Cowboy's

STEELERS are #1 in merchandise sold & #1 in the hearts of the Steeler Nation which is international. We're not "fans", we live & die for these guys. Hell, if they somehow manage to lose on Sunday, the homicide rate goes up & when they win, the birthrate goes up. There's a whole generation of Super Steeler Kids that got their start right after a Super Bowl win.

I have to say right now steelers because they won the superbowl last year and you know how fans are they always jump on the team that is doing the best. Now if the cowboys were to win the super bowl next year which probly wont happen then the cowboys would be ahead.

I'm a steeler fan and I lived in texas for 8 years, steeler fans go to games to watch, talk football and cheer their team on. Cowboy fans go to games to look and smell pretty then go to work later and boost , I was at the game yesterday. Steeler fans are much more knowledge about football.

Eagles fans, come on, they booed santa clause.

Steelers fans are more knowledgeable than the average Cowboys fan. Many Cowboys fans are just a bunch of bandwagoners from their SB days. Most couldn't name anyone on the current roster other than TO.
I should mention that I hate the Cowboys and everything about them. I hate their players, their coaches, their owner, that stupid hole in the roof, and that freakin' star. I hate them with every fibrt of my being.
