You might be able to find them both online for free. (Some people prefer hardcopy though.) You could also find either book at the local library easily. I would rather reread To Kill a Mockingbird again but only because I read the diary at least 3 times in high school.

Anne Frank: War memories. Young Jewish girl hiding from the Nazis in Holland.
To Kill a Mockingbird: Does not give advise in how to kill mockingbirds. Does preach racial tolerance.
Which one sounds better?

There are just so many books, it's kind of hard giving a useful advise...You mentioned Ann Frank, so maybe you're interested in history of the holocaust under Nazis ? If you want to learn about sufferings in Soviet concentration camps you should read Aleksandr Solženicins' novel named : "One day in a life of Ivan Vasiljevic", or something like " The drowned and the saved " by Italian Jew Primo Levi, who spent one year in a German lager of Auschwitz...
On the other hand, if you'd prefer something funny, try a Czech
author Jaroslav Hašek and his novel : " Švejk, the good soldier"; Švejk is a wise ***, that always manage to turn bad events into something useful, making fool of his fanatic superior officer lieutenant Lukas. It's a novel that shows how a simple person outwitted bureaucratic
Austro - Hungarian army authorities in WW1 and got away with it - even got decorated !

Since you are looking for classic books, I suggest looking at The Everyman's Library. See the link below. Look around. You might be more interested in different kinds of books than the two you mention.

I want you to buy whichever you want to buy. It's your money so your book choice. If it were me I'd buy "To Kill a Mockingbird". Having read both I enjoyed that one much more and wouldn't mind a reread.

They're both sad and depressing. Try something by James Lee Burke, John Lescroart, or Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
