not neccesarily. I know some pretty intelligent people that unfortunately don't have any sense of humor. but an intelligent person with sense of humor is someone I would always be glad to know

There's definitely a correlation, not a causation.

Just to typify...me and my best friend get along so well because we have similar senses of humor. Some of our "less intelligent" friends don't think we're very funny though. Then again, that could just be related to education and experience as well.

There's a correlation. What kind of correlation is hard to say. I think many people assumed smart people=not funny. Dumb people=funny or vice versa, but I think it's more important to note that sense of humor does not mean funny. It just means what one considers humorous.

I do like the sort of humor that's more often associated with higher intelligence, and think there's a definite correlation between one's intelligence and one's style of humor...but not necessarily between intelligence and sense of humor, as measured by amount of humor, appreciation of humor, or sense of comedic timing.

I think people with lower intellagence can be halarious and so can people with high intellagence. The best is when there is someone who is smart but not snotty telling a good ol' dirty, filthy joke, and dont let their ego get in the way, or a dumb person telling an intellectual joke is also very cool.

uymmm so yeah!

Perhaps it requires a higher intellect to understand certain types of humor

Certainly!
Humour is not a matter of education. It is a matter of intelligence. One can catch the really funny, the sarcastic, the hilarious, no matter how well hidden it is, only if he is intelligent.
Listening to clever people with humour, is my best!
