Don't go on the cheap on cables or the amp.You can get a good start copy nowadays for a few hundred bucks....SX guitars makes a start copy that costs about 100 bucks and plays like a 500 guitar.
Get lots of picks becauseyou'll probably loose them.
If you want to practise the guitar while standing buy a good sturdy leather strap
As for the cables , don't skimp.Better to buy a 50 dollar cable then 8 ten dollar ones that keep busting
You can get distortion peddles if you want to but alot of practise amps nowadays come with a switch or knob that gives you the effect of distortion peddles such as reverb or a wah wah peddle
No all you need is desire and time to practise
Good luck

Most people use different things. As for me and my husband (we both play) we started with just our Squier Bullet guitar by Fender, some picks, and a amp. You may want to start out with a small amp. if you are a beginner. But you can purchase a foot pedal or an amp that has a number of sounds as well as drums to help you find your sound. Those also help you in tuning your guitar.
