I wouldn't worry about the book level going down a bit. Sometimes it just tends to level out. And the system that they use to pinpoint what book level your child is on is not the most accurate. It's like achievement tests, if she doesn't do well on one of the evaluations it can bring her entire book level down.

As far as the teacher, have you talked to her or are you just relying on your daughter to tell you that her teacher has lost papers? No offense, but I have seen gifted kids learn that they can manipulate people and get away with it easier than the below average kids because the teacher is not 'expecting' it from them. I know it sounds bad, but that is the mindset. Teachers get to where they expect the below average ones to not do well or to hand papers in late.

When you view the gifted students as being 'perfect' and something does happen, adults feel that there must be some reason for the mishap other than admitting that the gifted student has done something wrong. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone, but that is just how it works. No child is perfect, but the gifted kids are expected to be.

But I agree that you need to have a conference with both the teacher and the child present. It's harder to lie about something (from either side) when the other person is present.

When a score comes down like that, it could be from a lot of things. Kids don't always perform their best especially if they feel they already know something. She may have been bored by the stupid story. (Lots of stupid stories in tests!)
As for the disorganized teacher-- you just need to get through this year and spend time asking about next year's teachers..Try to get her into a better teacher's class. If she's bright, like you say, she'll put it together! Make a library day and "feed" her interests, read to her as well as listen to her read, go to consorts, plays, turn off the T.V/movies and make crafts or get her involved in sports and stuff. There are lots of free things to do- test taking isn't so important as the experiences she brings to reading, writing and math.
There will be lousy teachers in any school and even into higher education! She needs to learn she has to work around that. She'll have a boss or two who will be lazy or unethical- how will she cope then??Well, she learns those skills now, watching parents and undestanding that even if she knows more than the teacher, she stills needs to listen and respect. If every parent got every lousy teacher out, there wouldn't be too many teachers left!

Go talk to the Principal and if that doesn't work , talk to the school board. It must be very evident that it is this teachers fault since all your child's other classes are fine. If nothing else make copies of your child's homework and then hand them in to the Principal at the end of the week. Inept teachers should be held accountable.

Maybe that teacher is grouchy and a drug addict teacher, maybe does not have a heart of a teacher.did the teacher apoligise if not report the whole school commutee to the ministry of education for not employing good teachers who is willing to take care of the student as a family.apart from parents, teachers too teach children for their future life,so do something now for the sake of your child and also for her classmates who might be having the same problem...peace

I have a borderline genius level IQ (forget the exact score, but perhaps 131?), but my brother's IQ is even higher than mine. When we were in elementary school, one of the teachers called my Mom to report that Timmy (my older brother) was failing. My Mom went in, insisting that this just couldn't be possible. At the parent-teacher conferences, it came out that the teacher had two little Timmys in her classroom and the other little Timmy was clinically retarded. THAT explained it.

firstly you should chat with the teacher. if this does not help and you do not see where she is coming from, you should chat with the school principal. do not assume you know all that is going on. sometimes parents make judgements about teachers and have no clue as the full story. do not bag the teacher behind her back. follow the above steps .

Pehaps your daughter is mushy hearted..issues could make her disillusioned fairly? If no longer and her transition to the recent section replaced into tender for the main section (all infants might have slightly hassle) and the instructor has an abrasive character that doesnt do properly to your daughter you're able to desire to objective to verify in the event that they might place your daughter in a distinctive first grade classification. If the college sees that your daughter is battling issues she in no way had problems with in the previous then they might desire to understand that a sparkling college room would desire to truly help her thrive back. I understand that the instructor is making an attempt to instruct independence yet while she is afraid to invite something then there seems to be situation. you're able to additionally attempt to communicate to different mom and dad of infants in her classification to verify how their infants experience approximately he practise, if it a uncomplicated situation among many infants then notifying the college to enable them to be conscious of how uncomfortable she makes the infants would additionally be a commence. good luck, i be conscious of it is going to be difficult to verify her so disillusioned over how a instructor talks to them.
