You are correct. The law of supply and demand applies. Your option is to quit buying gasoline. A second option is to buy stocks in the oil companies. A third option is to get a job with one of the oil companies...so you too can get on the gravy train.

So the oil companies are making money, isn't that the goal of any successful business? A lot of people have retirement funds invested in those companies. Even if gas gets to 4 dollars per gallon, it will still not be the highest that I have had to pay for gas; was paying about 6 dollars per gallon in Japan, and this was more than 10 years ago.
