This pdf should help you: http://sites.stocksphere.com/cds/files/CDS%20Guide%202007%20REVISED.pdf
There are several well respected drama schools in London, including:
-Royal Academy of Dramatic Art: http://www.rada.org/
-Academy of Live and Recorded Arts: http://www.alra.co.uk/
-London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art: http://www.lamda.org.uk/
-Guildhall School of Music and Drama: http://www.gsmd.ac.uk/
-Drama Centre: http://courses.csm.arts.ac.uk/drama/
Other drama schools in London include:
-Central School of Speech and Drama: http://www.cssd.ac.uk/
-Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts: http://www.italiaconti-acting.co.uk/
Unfortunately, there is no centralised audition process, but each of the sites above contains the type of information I believe you are looking for.
You should also have a look at this website: http://www.ncdt.co.uk/prepare.asp
All the best of luck.

Performing school has helped me greatly. We have been offered to retailers and casting directors, so not only are we studying, we're meeting industry authorities and that helps a lot in the long run. It sounds to me that you've got already made your mind up to not go to drama college. And that is fine. Economy...Well, I feel if anyone has the money, then it are not able to damage. In my opinion, i did not relatively suppose the effects of the recession, thankfully. I saved my cash, stop my job, and am now in appearing school full time and i couldn't be happier. But honestly, it can be so subjective. There isn't any right or unsuitable. It's not the be all finish all. But it's strong to be able to be trained with academics who're inclined to push you to your very limits...You be trained lots about your self, how you can tap into feelings, and other stuff that some persons won't learn on their possess. It is determined by the person i suppose. We even have an splendid dialect instruct at my university. And it could actually help to have for your resume. I have no idea in case you have an agent, but they do like to see that you've some training. Possibly you should take science after which a theatre type or even a once or twice weekly scene study category? Finally, it is your choice and i am definite you'll be able to be glad. Wreck a leg!

Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts has a great list of alumni including Judi Dench, etc. They're very prestigious. I know for a summer term the tuition is about 3 thousand British Pounds. that's about 5-6 thousand American.
The London Academy of Music and Drama is also good. Several of the cast of the original HISTORY BOYS went there.
Guildhall School of Music and Drama is also very well respected. I beleive Orlando Bloom is an alumni.
You should check out their individual websites and if you're gonna be in London way before school starts, visit the campuses!

Hi Aracnide
The first link bellow is to the conference of drama schools listing all the major schools in this country, most of them in London. Following the links given on that page should answers your questions.
The second link is to a website exclusively dedicated to British Theatre where you can spot actors, actresses and theatre companies.
The third link is to a group of actors and improvisers in London meeting once or twice a month to practise and have a laugh.
The last one is a link to the improvisation workshops I'm teaching this summer in London.
Hope that helps.
All the best

appearing college has helped me rather. we've been presented to brokers and casting directors, so no longer in basic terms are we studying, we are assembly industry experts and that facilitates plenty interior the long-term. It sounds to me which you have already made your ideas as much as no longer bypass to drama college. and that's high-quality. financial climate...properly, i think of if somebody has the money, then it can't harm. in my opinion, i did no longer experience the end results of the recession, fortuitously. I saved my money, end my activity, and am now in appearing college finished time and that i could no longer be happier. yet certainly, it is so subjective. there is no suited or incorrect. it isn't the be all end all. whether that's amazing to be waiting to study with instructors who're prepared to push you to your very limits...you study plenty approximately your self, a thank you to faucet into thoughts, and different stuff that some human beings won't study on their very own. It relies upon on the guy i assume. We also have a great dialect coach at my college. And it could help to have on your resume. i don't be conscious of in case you have an agent, yet they do elect to verify which you have some training. possibly you ought to take technological awareness and then a theatre classification or maybe a a pair of times weekly scene study classification? interior the top, it is your selection and that i'm specific you would be happy. ruin a leg!

For the tip-top, see if you can get on as an apprentice or intern with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Or attend workshops that they offer.
