A kangaroo hops on their hind legs...lol.
Seriously though, you will only find them in zoos, perhaps the national parks, and definately away from suburbia. You may see one or two on a desolate road early morning or late afternoon when they feed, but this again is not in Sydney or any towns.

There are wallabies (small kangaroos) in Kuringai and Garigal National Parks. Garigal is around the upper reaches of Middle Harbour in the Forestville/Frenchs Forest/Terrey Hills area, and is surrounded by suburbia. Kuringai is on the fringe of Sydney to the north. I also often see dead wallabies beside the Wakehurst Parkway between Frenchs Forest and North Narrabeen.
They are shy, and do not expect to see them just by arriving in the area.

HAHAHAHA! no they arent, no longer in cities it fairly is. you will no longer see a single kangaroo in sydney until you bypass to a organic worldwide park. I stay in a particularly component of queensland and right here on the different hand they are everywhere, even in my outdoor.
