Is it just a change in an enviroment( iv just moved out of home and in to halls of residence)

You could be anemic. A friend of mine was only slightly anemic and her hair was coming out by the handfuls resulting in a tiny bald spot. As soon as she started taking iron it went away.

My hair started coming out like that when I was about 18 and lasted for a couple of years. I finally went to see a dr and he said it was a combination of stress and diet.

If the food in res isn't very healthy, get some iron pills, a daily multi-vitamin and most importantly, B12 pills - that's what helps your hair grow. Try to buy veggies and fruit if you can for snacks.

If you do these things, pretty soon you should notice the hair stops falling out (maybe in a month or two). Also, since summer is coming, try to take more time for yourself and find something that lessens your stress. Maybe yoga or another sport.

STRESS is a big reason young women begin to lose hair early. There is a disease as well dealing with the scalp you should see a dermatologist to rule out medical issues such as this. Pulling your hair back into a tight ponytail often weakens your root systems in the scalp as well. Dont over process your hair with alot of chemicals over time either. Some women later in life not at your age too get a "receding" hairline just like men. But, remember the best thing to do is see a dermatologist frist, and dont rely on your hair dresser, they get paid to process and torture your hair. Although I love my hairdresser and have had perms and colors I still rely on my doctors more.

it could be a number of things... stress, diet or hormones. Moving out of home can cause a fair bit of stress, especially due to the change of normal routines etc. Crash dieting or an unhealthy diet can cause hair loss and hormones going nuts can do it too. They are some of the things, their could be more, but those are the ones i have experienced for myself.

See your doctor and eat healthy. TRY to curb alcohol and tobacco consumption. You may just be lacking vitamins.
