No, it isn't dangerous.

I shave the hair. I hold the nipple end and shave "with the grain" (toward the nipple end).

no it isnt dangerous...just painfull. never use wax on that area, the skin is to delicate and it can tear. Also dont use hair removal creams on the actuall nipple, they will burn the skin. you could try creams as lone and they dont touch the brown part, the actual nipple. If the hairs are on the nipple, just keep plucking

Just pluck one at a time and it won't hurt as bad.
I too pluck in some unspeakable places. LOL
