I use cloth diapers. The store bought burp cloths just are not big enough to cover the shoulder and frontal area...no matter where I would put it the spitup would always miss. I find foldig a cloth diaper in half works great due to how big they are. When riding in his carseat we equip him with a bib because it seems no matter how long ago he ate he always has a little spit up when riding in the car.

I put a bib on my son before feeding him and then when I sit him up to burp him, I put my right hand on his chest, UNDER the bib, and lean him on my right hand. Then I burp him with the left hand and if spit up comes out, the bib is "propped up" because is laying on top of my right hand and I can catch the spit up.
Every other way I've tried just creates a mess. :)

I used the cheapo receiving blankets that you can buy in packs from the dollar store. Plus, I used the kind of bibs that have that vinyl-like backing so the spit up didn't soak through and get my girl's clothes wet (she was quite a spitter!).

We bought cloth birdseye diapers from Gerber. They are the perfect size and can be washed and they work REALLY well. I have a baby with GERD so we have lots of spit-ups and projectile vomits, so we've thoroughly tested them. :)
You can buy them at target or walmart. They come in plain white and then they have patterened ones for boys or girls.

Packs of muslin cloths. You can buy from most baby shops but if not then get some off the roll at material shop. They are designed for baby puke and lots of other baby messes. Soft on baby and easy to wash. XX

I use one of my sons terry towelling cloth nappies. Which is the same one I use to have down the front of my breast that I am not feeding off at the time of feeding. Terry squares are just so damn versitile!
