Yes its OK to go swimming on your period. The only thing is sometimes the cold water of the swimming pool can cause you to have cramps.
I use a product called instead. You insert it like a tampon, but it doesn't absorb it just catches any blood. I have been using this for about a year. I swim while I am using them and I have never had any " accidents." I buy them at CVS or Walmart
I would not try going swimming without protection on the hope that your period will just stop. That's a little too risky.

I never used tampons unless I was swimming. I would really hate the thought of swimming in a pool that had someone elses menstral blood in it! I think a a common curtesy you should either avoid swimming while menstrating or use a tampon. Good luck!!

You NEED to wear a tampon if you are menstruating and want to go swimming anywhere. It does not stop the whole time you are in the water, and is really nasty if you are not wearing one while in the water.

Buy the slimmest tampon possible and try them.

Yeah it's okay to go swimming while in your period and yeah it does stop while swimming. You can always use a tampon if you are afraid of painting the water red hahaha go on it's completely safe, l have done it many times and no one will notice unless off cause you tell them darling.

Ok so i know there's like a thousand other answers but anyway... yeah it's fine, a tampon is your best bet. Personally I don't like to swim during my period 'coz I get really bad cramps afterwards...

yes Arianna,
it is perfectly fine for you to swim during your period. make sure that you use a tampon and it is perfectly normal for your period to stop when you go into the water. i know this from personal experience. so go and have a good swim and enjoy, ok??

It is okay as long as you are not going to the beach! Sharks have been known to attack women that have their period & are only paddling in shallow water. Swimming in a pool is fine, use a tampon. If it does stop don't worry it will go through its proper cycle.

Wear a super tampon and you'll be fine. Change it just before you go swimming and you'll be all set.

Don't listen to the guys--they've never worn tampons!!!
