I love my friends. However recently they are all depressed. I have been supportive and spent night after night with them, hanging out and listening to their problems, but I also want a life. I'm in my twenties and want to get out there.

However I'm finding this difficult. It's hard to meet new people when none of your friends are having events, parties or want to come out with you.

My town is small. What can I do to get out of this rut?

Am I awful for feeling this way? I have no problems being supportive, but I need more than sitting in living rooms. Even when I initiate going out people stop coming. They are fine with me watching videos and talking with them though.

It's been almost a year since I've done anything.

this is tough, sometimes you have to stray out of your circle so you can feel whole yourself.
my friends become the homebodys and they are averagely happy, but I get depressed because there is not too many options to go out and have fun, meet people, especially when everyones on thier guard thies days.

I say make a list of what you wnat to do and do it, go out for that great meal at a place youve been eyeing for a while. miss playing pool? go play a round, and just be happy your doing somthing rather than waisting a day, and from time to time people will ask about you.
its only only time Ive seen where if your relaxed and enjoying a nite out you get to meet a new person, see how comfortable there are, make a new freind, or atleats find a new place to hang out.

and the next time you see your freinds they might want to tag allong because your tlaking about thies new things your doing in your life.

ok then

It's great that you're helping your friends but you need alife of your own as well, don't let your freinds stop you from going out and having fun because the more you sit around and listen to thier problems you'll end up becoming like them- depressed.

Just go find someone else who is not in your group and slowly get to know them and then then when you're comfortable ask them if they wanna go and do something with you then pretty soon you'll have a whole nother network of freinds but you still have your old ones as well.

i felt the same way i also live in a small town but decided to make the best of what i had available. and no you're not wrong for wanting to get out of your friends living room. you're best bet is to find a group/club at your school or even in your town so there you can meet people with similar interests that you have.

Go out on your own and have a good time. You can meet some new ppl. Just becareful, though. I really do suggest you go out anyway cause if you stay too long w/your friends who are depressed they might drag you down w/them. You don't want them to suck the energy out of you, especially, since you seem to have a good amount of energy now. Just go out and have fun. You're not getting any younger.

you're spending too a lot time getting close to to them. you do not ask a lady out 6 months when you first meet her. in case you want to bypass out with the female, dangle out with them 2-3 circumstances, then ask them out. there is not any getting out of the buddy zone, so do not even attempt.
