I've noticed that we keep complaining about Mourinho success because of millions he has from the owner and forgot that he was better at Porto without even having those millions.

Thank You!

Actually, I haven't seen many complaints about Mourinho and the millions he has to spend - more about his ungracious and arrogant attitude towards fellow managers, players of other teams and even towrads some of his own players.
Most people recognise his coaching abilities and acknowledge that he has mostly spent wisely - even if Chelsea have been able to pay inflated prices for the players they have bought -and built a team that has gelled well. However, Chelsea are, also, proof that vast amounts of money alone are not a guarantee of long term success in every competition.
Mourinho achieved well at Porto with limited finances. They were slightly fortunate to beat United considering that United had a perfectly good 'goal' disallowed in the 2nd leg at Old Trafford but to go on and win the competition was a major achievement.
In the long term, though, Mourinho, considering his coaching abilities, is likely to underachieve as a manager because of his poor attitudes and inability to accept winning or losing graciously. Contrast his comments after the defeat at Liverpool on Tuesday with those of Alex Ferguson after losing in Milan, for instance. Mourinho seems almost paranoid at times and this must distract him from what he might achieve in the future.
(Im a Man U fan by the way)

Much as I dislike Man Utd, although not Alex Ferguson, I have to say there is no comparison between the two. Ferguson has built two or three good sides, leavening bought talent ( and he doesn't make too many bad buys) with talent brought up from the junior ranks, although it's unlikely that he will ever have a crop to match the Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Giggs,Neville bros harvest. He ( Ferguson) does have a great advantage, young kids know of Man Utd and want to play for them, in general, the rest of us get the left overs. Chelsea, being a bought team ( with a couple of exceptions) don't have that depth as yet. I do like Mourhino but can't help feeling he is more at home with the homegrown players than his imported stars. He is young and will learn and I wouldn't back against his future success. By the way, I was in Manchester in the early nineties and remember Ferguson being on the verge of going.

Jose did well at Porto, exceptional in fact. But he has to do a hell of a lot to oust Fergie as the best 'manager'. But what Man U achieved in the last 20 years still hasn't surpassed what Liverpool (and their management succesion) achieved in the 70's and 80's. He's good, but has to keep on proving it to be 'great'. By the way, I'm a Toon fan, so as a neutral I feel I'm well placed to make a comment on who's the best, based on which I envy the most. Largely due to the fact we've never won a pot to pi ss in for the last 51 years!!!

He was lucky to beat Man U in the champ league then. (Man U almost knocked Porto out)
Porto is/was a technically very gifted team (even better than the current chelski side skill wise) with the likes of Deco playing for them. Also, the portugese league did not have much competition, so he could focus on the UCL.
I would be more impressed if he did it with a German side like Borussia Dortmund or Werder Bremen.

the difference is when you work for a billionaire winner only the best will do. The pressure could almost send you over the top. Nobody disputes mourinho's ability to manage and motivate, but let's himself down when it comes to mind games and sour grape after the match remarks. as a neutral was he at a different game on Tuesday

Its a natural problem with egotists, they tend to get big headed and and start to believe their own fibs. Not with Fergie,he's a gentleman and a very faithful manager to his players.Mourinho is starting to smell his own s**t he's peddling. He inherited,Fergie earned. The irony here is despite the millions he's wasted,Mourinho's team plays like the humble Wimbledon of old.

bit of luck here and there, even with an unlimited bank account they can still only win 1 trophy per season, the english league is a lot better than the bwilinga and Mourinho can't hack it!!!
