Their natural food is algae, so that's a good way to feed them if you have a source where you can collect some that's in clean water. Otherwise, lettuce (romaine, or a darker leaf lettuce, not iceberg) that's been boiled or frozen a few minutes to soften it. You an also feed them algae pellets made for fish, or alfalfa pellets made for other pets.

Here's a website about raising wild tadpoles: http://www.mdc.mo.gov/conmag/1995/07/06.html

and another by a teacher raising tadpoles from frog eggs in a classroom: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/caer/ce/eek/teacher/frogact.htm if the tadpoles are from a pond and you know what kind they are, a link in the last site will help you figure out how long it might take for them to turn into frogs.

WELL, I HEAR THEY LOVE LETTUCE. BOIL THE LETTUCE FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND THEN DRAIN IT. CHOP IT UP A LITTLE AND THE FREEZE IT. GIVE THE TADPOLE A PINCH EVERY FEW DAYS. THE LENGTH OF FROG DEVELOPMENT FROM EGG TO TADPOLE TO FROG USUALLY TAKES BETWEEN 6 TO 12 WEEKS. BUT IT IS ALSO TEMP DEPENDANT.DURING COLD SPELLS IT MAY TAKE A BIT LONGER. WHEN THEY COME ON TO LAND YOU SHOULD START FEEDING THEM SOME INSECTS. GOOD LUCK!

you could keep them for therefore long as you pick, yet they're extra likely to die earlier in a cup, or the position ever you're holding them. you should substitute the water, because it receives very dirty. fairly of adjusting the water, purely get a sparkling cup or something and fill it with water. Use that glass fairly. you could feed them boiled lettuce. verify you both go away the cup conceal off, or poke holes contained in the canopy. good luck and desire you and your tadpoles have a good life!
