If I were you, I would take the time to drop into a higher-end shoe shop first, and get a professional shoe sizing. Make sure you get the numerical size and the width size as well (for example, I wear a U.S. size 11 shoe, wide-width.). Armed with this knowledge, it will be much easier to buy shoes online. Also, make sure the sizes you are buying are equivalent to the size you wear in Canada. For example, I wear a size 11 here in the states, but in the U.K. I'm in an 8.5-10! If I bought an 11 from a U.K. online retailer, they'd be huge on me! If you need further help, reference the site I've provided. I hope my answer helps you!

Shop at a reputable site where they give you a good description of the shoes and pics of all sides of the shoes. Last, make sure that there are reviews by other shoppers of this shoe and how they liked/disliked the shoes.
Give online shoe shopping another chance but be smart doing it. Know your feet and what they can handle. And remember a simple rule when shoe shopping: You're feet carry you everywhere you go pamper them with quality over quantity. Your feet dont know how many shoes you own; they just remember the ones that hurt them.

I have purchased both dance shoes and regular shoes online. I have never had any problems.
Some websites such as Zappos.com and Endless.com have very good return policies.

Yes, I would. I have success with it. I stick with one company because I know how their shoes fit.
