well for now it sounds like the best thing for you to do is what your friends are telling you to do... go with them and apologize. if you're very sincere about it i'm sure that he could forgive you. especially considering that you guys have known each other since you were younger. an example that is similar-ish would be like when my friend that i've known since we were little kids went around telling people that i had feelings for this really creepy guy that kinda stalked me (might sound mean... but it was true... he was weird) because i had been going around telling people that i'd met this really hot guy (the creeper and the other guy i met had the same name) she just said "it was just a joke." and at first i was really pissed and i refused to talk to her unless it was something to let her know how po'd i was. but eventually (after a week or two) i'd gotten over the initial embarrassment and anger and forgave her and we started hanging out again. so if you guys really are good friends and have known each other for so long then i'm sure that he'll forgive you. :))

I would say that there is a good chance that you are gay (and an exhibitionist).
BTW - being gay doesn't mean that you can't go on a date with a girl. It just means you wouldn't be having sex with her (doesn't mean you can't try that too).

I would say curious, never been with a girl, I am guessing never been with a guy, check both possibilities, then choose if you are gay or not.
