I understand that people are being sentenced to prison for sexual abuse crimes and they do their prison time and are about to be released but now are being confined involuntarily into mental hospitals indefinately. I hate sex abusers but this is a dangerous precedent as what will be next for civil commitment? Will people be sentenced for other crimes indefinately in the future for the duration of their lives and where is the rule I did my crime and did my time. Double Jeopardy seems to be fading in the wind and our rights and liberties are shrinking before our eyes but yet people accept this. Why? Do you agree that civil confinement is a dangerous road that we are embarking upon?

Sex offenders confined involuntarily? Boo freakin hoo. I think they deserve the death penalty. Statistics show that most sex offenders have high repeat probability when released. Lock them up and throw away the key.

If they're deemed to be a danger to the public due to mental disorder, then it's a whole lot better than letting them loose to offend again.

Having said that, confinement without cause or arbitrary confinement scares me a little. In that case, political opposition could be considered a mental defect by some wing-nut in power and anyone could end up on the short end of that stick.

Convictions of pedophiles assume that they are sane and choose to abuse children. Doing a 180 and saying the pedophile can't control their actions upon sentence completion is beyond bad faith. It would be better to just to lock them up for life along with all others that commit sex crimes. While it's extremely harsh, it's not hypocritical.

if you are a sex offender it does not matter if you did your time for the crime, even if they let you out you will have to register every 90 days, and in some states they are passing laws that will make you have to wear a tracking device at all times. so even if you served your time in prison it won't matter because you will be serving time for the rest of your life on the outside

this was done because child molesters can not be cured , its not in all states anyway I believe all pedophiles should be killed because they can not be cured why waste money keeping them in a hospital .
