I would never get an abortion unless I was raped or experiencing early signs of complications that could endagner my life, but that is my choice that I make. I don't think the government should have the right to tell me what I can or can't do with my own body. I may disapprove of, say, a friend of mine who wants to get an abortion, and I might even try to talk her out of it, but at the end of the day it should be her choice and no one else's.
I am referring to, of course, abortion as long as its done within the first trimester. I've heard of partial-birth abortion where the baby is killed seconds before it is born. THAT should be made illegal simply because at that point the baby is an actual person.
Another thing that makes me pro-choice is the fact that I don't want women to have to start using dangerous methods to lose the baby, such as metal coat hangers, or going to alleyway doctors who use dirty knives, where the mortality rate is very high, and many young women have died.

Yes i agree with you 100%, I had an abortion when I was 14 but that was only because i was forced into sex! Abortion after the first trimester is totally wrong the baby now looks like a real baby after the first trimester. Why cant women make that choice before then, surely a woman should know she is pregnant before 12 weeks!!!

The job of a good mother is to raise her child to independence. Then the child should be able to make their own decisions. Abortion did not weigh very high with god as he did not put it in the 10 commandments. He did we are told say "thou shalt not kill", but seems to have allowed it in so many other circumstances(ie smiting philistines, sacrificing the first born, plaguing egyptians to death, not suffering witches to live, stoning adulteresses), that it's a bit hard to see him totally wholehearted on this one. I would never like to be dogmatic on what the Lord wants. That would be very arrogant. I personally would like people to take proper precautions to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Abortion is not in general a good thing but is best avoided. Just from the point of view of a woman's health and happiness. It should be a measure of last resort.

Morally, I don't agree with abortion. A fetus is a human being. But unfortunately, there is nothing legally wrong with getting an abortion. If you don't want kids, are a drug addict, have no money, or are immature you should do everything in your power to NOT get pregnant. Lots of ways to do that...

not for the electives but for the ones that have been raped.

if you do not want a child, then, take some effort into birth control. if you do get pregnant then give it to a couple (or single parent) that has longed for a child. difficult? more difficult to kill a baby, wouldn't you think?
