I like Ford's Hamburgers on Sutterville near Freeport Blvd. Also, you have to try Squeeze Inn on Fruitridge near Power Inn.
These days, I've discovered The Habit...they're the absolute best....there's one in Elk Grove, Laguna at Bruceville, and Roseville, Sierra College at Douglas.

The Sacramento News and Review has a "Best Burger" article once a year. Fanny Anne's in Old Sacramento always wins. I worked in Old town for nearly 20 years, and have enjoyed many of them over the years. Their fries are great, too. If you eat there, find the bathroom BEFORE you have a drink. I'm not saying anything else about it.
Have fun and take a bite for me.

Sacramento is not known for the best of anything. Your best bet is trying downtown. Sacramento has very little passion and equally little culture. Ask someone this question and you're likely to get a response like "In-n-out" or "Carl's Jr." If I had to guess, I would suggest Old Sac or Mid town. Those are about the only two places you'll find any good food in the greater sacramento area. Except for Nugget in Roseville; which is better than most restaurants in the entire region. It's a grocery store run by passionate people. Good luck and have fun this summer when it's 120F out!
