Well I would think the answer is yes and no because if you are already in an environment that is violent or not the norm you may not think there is anything wrong with it and would repeat what you have seen. Those who have a stable household (and that doesn't mean two parents but a parent/parents who are involved with their children and what they are up to) then you will find someone that is balanced as to yes this is violent but no I do not emulate it because it goes against the morals of society.

Some people have a psychological predisposition to violent behavior but relatively little when looked at the total population. For the rest of us, it is the attention we get when we are raised and the values (or lack thereof) we are raised with. Anything after that in society can affect it or not after that cornerstone is set.

I think violence in TV, Videos games, movies or whatever only effects those not already 'right in the head' I'm still with the mind set that if *I* can play violent video games or watch violent movies, how come *I'm* not out there acting violent.

To me it is all about the mentality of each individual person. While I cry at a commercial, not everyone does. While someone plays a violent video game and acts violent because of it doesn't mean that Joe Schmoe over there will do the same thing

I think much depends on the age of the person watching. If it is someone who can separate fact from fiction, I don't believe it will alter the way they act. If it is someone who does not have the capability to define what is good and bad, real and fictitious, due to age or ability, I think it can cause them to act in a way that is not appropriate. For example, if a full functioning adult sees a television show that has shown someone pick up a gun and shoot it at a person, and the person falls to the ground and dies and then goes on to another scene, that person knows what has happened and can understand that it is a movie and that all is fine, and I don't believe it would cause them to go out and shoot someone even if they saw a gun sitting next to them on the sofa. However, if it were a young child or an adult who thinks like a child, they might see a gun and remember the scene and pick up the gun and shoot someone. Same thing with cartoons that portray people flying out of windows, or running something smack into a wall and then they jump up and carry on with life. A young child might think that it's a reality for people to be able to do the same, and hurt themselves thinking that they are like that cartoon character. So, no, under normal circumstances, I don't believe that watching violence on T.V. incites violence in reality, but not all circumstances are normal.

Nope.
I think that is ridiculous.
I have listened to so many different types of music including rock&roll and gangster rap, watched ALL kinds of movies including tons where people are harmed/killed and seen more TV shows than I could count that are violent.

And yet...I am not a violent person at all...I am a hippy lol
I just want peace & love.
Seriously.

So if these things caused that, believe me I would be a murderer lol

I believe that it can influence people to some extent, but ONLY if those people already have serious mental issues.

People need to stop blaming the media and entertainment and start looking to the real problems...including parenting and bullying (the school system needs to change somehow to STOP this).

This is a great question! I would have to say no for the most part. I think that children mimic what they see, but they do not look at it as being violent. As far as adults. We are adults, we know right from right, watching violence does not make us violent. We choose to do violent on our own.

To an extent - yes. I'm very against violent cartoons when it comes to my son. I'm not saying that he might grow into a violent person because of violence on TV, but why teach him that it's ok to behave violently?

I believe there are those that are influenced by what they see in movies and on TV. I believe the correlation has been proven by a bunch of different studies. It's always a few that screw things up for the rest of us and this is another example of it. But since violence sells, they won't take it away.

Nope. I think that the violence in people makes TV and Movies more and more violent each day.

Maybe it triggers violent people to act on thier impulses but it does not cause peaceful people to be violent all of a sudden.

Yes, I think it gives ideas to easily influenced young people. And the same goes for video games.
