I think in your case, you were trying to be too 'nice' and too eager with being 'just friends'.. Back off a little. Women are quite clear about what they want from you 'just as a friend'. Guys just tend to forget..

Women are devious and caniving and you have to realize that. If you are nice then they know they can get you anytime they wanted if they wanted it. Thats why you got to treat them bad and then they'll come back for more. Look at all these guys that are jerks....are they ever by themselves or do they always have a chick attach to them. Don't know how to get started we'll first insult whatvever they say. If she says anything...tell her that its a dumb idea and she needs to learn to keep her yapper shut. As you progress, soon you' ll be able to call her fat, or you will be able to set a date and never show. And the best thing is you will never be alone again because you have issues and women love that.

we do.. just not when we're having bad days.. because then we seem to take our anger out on the nice guy even if it means ignoring him... so just be nice but find the right time to go around somebody... dont be overbearing... :)
