Throw a stone at a glass house and it will break. How strong does that make you look? We are all fragile and we all experience most of life, one time or another. Don't be the one who thinks that nothing will happen to me. Be empathic.

People in glasshouses should’t throw stones. True. But people in stone houses should’t throw glass. And people in grass houses should’t throw snakes. Even though snakes don’t break, they love to hide in the grass.

Imagine you live in a house built and decorated entirely of glass. No curtains. No shades. No drapes. Your life inside your house is wide open and crystal-clear for anyone and everyone to see and observe. Nothing is private. You also have no structural integrity. A single stone can crush your entire world. It goes without saying, you are extremely vulnerable to people who would gain tremendous pleasure and profit in harming you.

Now, imagine that you are a well-known puplic figure. A politician, a Hollywood Actor, a successful business executive, a popular evangelist, etc. You literally live in a "glass house", because everyone can see what you do all the time. The media and the paparazzi are relentless. Anyone can crush your world if they have just the right "stone" to throw at your "glass house". You think you're safe but you're not. Never. Ever.

"Throwing Stones" is behaving in a manner that will bring the most personal and embarrassing damage to a person who will be hurt simply because of public notoriety.

So, if you are the one who lives in a "glass house", you should be very carefull about "casting the first stone" or accusing someone of something you may be guilty of yourself. It will come back to haunt you.

In a word, it's called hypocrisy, and it's the one single sin that Jesus Christ hated the most while he preached his message of salvation before he died for our sins.

I hope this helps.

Basically it means don't say mean or nasty thing about someone unless you are pure and have never done anything wrong in your life.
: PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULDN'T THROW STONES - "Those who are vulnerable should not attack others. The proverb has been traced back to Geoffrey Chaucer's 'Troilus and Criseyde' (1385). George Herbert wrote in 1651: 'Whose house is of glass, must not throw stones at another.' This saying is first cited in the United States in 'William & Mary College Quarterly' (1710). Twenty-six later Benjamin Franklin wrote, 'Don't throw stones at your neighbors', if your own windows are glass.' 'To live in a glass house' is used as a figure of speech referring to vulnerability." From "Random House Dictionary of Popular Proverbs and Sayings" (1996) by Gregory Y. Titelman (Random House, New York, 1996).

I believe the saying is: "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" The metaphor is that the glass house represents your own sins and the stones are the insults you throw at others. (If you throw a stone in a glass house, you will likely break something..eh?)
In other words, you shouldn't judge others unless you yourself cannot be judged. Another similar one is "Before you point out the speck of wood in anothers eye, first remove the plank from your own..." Hope this clears up your fog

I think the saying is that people in glass houses shouldn't cast stones. It means that if you do bad things, in any which way, you shouldn't judge others or pass criticism on them for what they do particularly if you are guilty of the same things that you are criticising them for, as you yourself could be judged also on that basis. So it is basically telling you not to be a hypocrite.

The full saying is; people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Now, the obvious explanation is that if you throw a stone at someone else and they throw a stone back at you, the stone they throw will hit your own glass house and break it, bringing it down around your ears. The "meaning" is that when you are vulnerable in one area, don't attack another person in the same area...because that person can attack, and hurt you, in the same area where you are attacking him. Am I making sense? Don't attack when you're vulnerable., basically.

Its don't cast stones in a glass house. Kinda like in the Bible when they want to stone the woman and Jesus says let he whom is without sin cast the first stone. You go throwing rocks at others you will tear down your walls eventually.

I think it is reversed, "If you live in a glass house, don’t cast stones"

mean: don't talk down/or about other people especially if you are doing the same thing.

For instance: lets say you are a cheater, don’t talk about other cheaters because you are doing just the same.

You live in a glass house, so if you cast stones YOUR HOUSE will break down.
You are at the wrong side and preach what you don't follow.
