I should never type questions this late...lol...
So who thinks time is an infinitely large sea of points where each point represents an infinitely small instance in time and all events that have and ever will happen in the universe exist simultaneously in this large "sea of time"? Also, do you think it's possible that the world we live in now is maybe just a result of taking a certain path through these points? Just randomly wondering...

I mean seriously, I probably should know whether or not this is a crackpot question, but I don't. So I'm asking. lol

Oh real quick...I don't mean that destiny is already spelled out. I mean more that there are infinitely many different possibilities for a sequence of events and that those possibilities all exist somewhere, but that we are only witnessing what is happening on our own particular course through time.

The Egyptians believed in such a thing. In some of the famous pyramids in Egypt people have unearthed such hieroglyphics which lead to two different paths, however they started at the same point. Archaeologists have decided that we "randomly" chose path number two. That path matches with many of the world history and has a much longer line than the alternative road. Which makes you wonder what was the situation, decision, that humankind took to get to where we are now.

Because time is recognized and experienced by a group of people, it has to be relative to all people experiencing it.
That said, if you chose to up and move to London tomorrow with several belongings in a backpack, that would change your life path tremendously. It would change who you knew and what you learned as well as your opportunities. Such a decision is one of the many in the infinite sea. Regardless, this is not a matter of time. Time could very well be a straight line because you can not move to the side of time as we understand it. We can only move forward and we came from behind. No matter which path you chose, you life will occur at the same place in time.
That said, each moment... each life even... from the beginning to the end of time is so small in comparison to the infinite length of time.
Time is very interesting to think about. I have a book to recommend but I can't think of the name of it right now. I will email you when it comes to me...
EDITED TO ADD:
i apparently didn't read everything that you had typed.
you are, as i understand it, saying that every life that you could live is happening and that you are only experiencing the life that you choose based on the choices you make. that is very interesting indeed.
i do agree with that. i also believe that everyone has paths that are "the best" for the individual... like the path they are supposed to follow. when you get off of that path, things seem off. when you are on it... well, things fall together. have you ever felt like you were exactly where you are supposed to be? that everything, in the moment, was right? i believe that is time or the universe or something inside telling you that you are on the path that you are supposed to be on.

I think you mean infinite sea of events where anyone can take only one path over time?
No, I think that previous actions effect future actions so its not a matter of choice which path we take. Sounds too controlling, I know.

Time is an illusion in the imagined universe of names and forms...
If anybody thinks that is is also a "crackpot idea"
I DARE THEM to prove me wrong!

I love late-night crackpot ideas like this - keep them coming! And I see what you mean - and hope you're right - and that we can just keep meandering through these points forever. :)

Sounds like you might have been reading a little bit about quantum mechanics (maybe some string theory). If not, maybe you should.
BTW: "retarded" unless you are semi-serving a pastry again.

Einstein thought everything has already happened, everything will happen and everything is happening right now. I believe he is correct.
