I own all of the Married...With Children dvds and hate the fact that they substituted the theme song...here's my question...On the season 4 dvd set the theme song is replaced but, at the end of the episode "Buck Saves The Day", they must have forgot to cut the actual theme off (it's actually the real instrumental part of Love & Marriage by Frank Sinatra)...did they get in trouble for that and have to pay extra money for that...if you know what i'm talking about...thanks for the help!!!

Because it's an instrumental of the song by somebody else, they would have to pay a lesser amount. Music contracts are strange. Let's say Frank Sanatra rented that song from a writer. MWC paid for the music he rented, yet since he didn't own the song in this example, MWC would pay the rights instead to the music writer when they did the instrumental. They would have had to pay more if it was just a copy and paste of the theme song or what they used in the original begining.

On another show, the theme song for WKRP is on the DVDs because it was written and performed by the creators of the show. The same goes for MASH (which was written by the creator's 15 year old son for the movie).

u must be really curious to ask that

anyhow, i know its a terrible answer, but it might be connected to that whole syndication fiasco... i guess because not every episode was syndicated, the original audio was preserved? anyhow, i guess the question boils down to whether it was in fact a goof, which is possible... although it think its farfetched that a "compromise" was reach in only having one episode with the original song, while the others were altered... i mean, it doesn't make sense from the business POV of sony
