I do not know if it is possible to define beauty. I am not sure if it exist at all. Once you call something beautiful, other things become ugly. Perhaps they are both illusions. Products of our thought. Why is a dove beautiful and a fly on dirt ugly? Is it not related to how our brain is preconditioned?

Perhaps we will never know what beauty is unless we learn how to look. I think beauty is related to how clearly we perceive things. Seeing things clearly without any filters or screens created by thought. But we don't look at things like that. We confuse beauty with pleasure. We see a mountain, a tree, a sunset, a face, anything that we consider beautiful and we wish to capture it. We want to repeat it. We want to have it again. That's what we call beauty.

Beauty is not what you look like ,it's who and what you are. I see beauty in the elderly, when thier face lights up when you take the time to chat. I see beauty when our community and social groups come together for a good cause. I see beauty in the changing of the seasons, when the snow melts and the flowers bloom . I see beauty in my family because they love me and treat me as equal. I see beauty in the man that holds the door open for me so that I can get in the door with my children. Beauty has nothing to do with sexual attraction but beauty can be in you partner.

I agree with John Keats's famous quote, "A thing of beauty is a joy for ever", however, we need to be more concise on what the thing means or refers to . For instance, does it imply human beings of great beauty in famous portraits or in the flesh or great virtues as practiced and observed in daily life? Idealistically, such beauty should be so impressive on the mind that it does not fade nor blur from the memory within one's life or more. I mean its representations like world famous portraits in the National Gallery in London or the statue of Venus de Milo at the Louvre in Paris.

To me, beauty is anything that elicits an above-average, positive feeling within.

Like when someone's baby grins at you while you are waiting to be served in a line at the checkout, and you find yourself grinning back, almost involuntarily.
