It happens all the time. Last year I presented a health fair at an assisted living facility. I proofread everything carefully and also had others check it. None of the nurses, the administrator, the social worker, the interns or students found any errors. However, one of the part time kitchen workers complained that the spelling was bad and the grammar even worse. I guess it made him feel a little smarter.

Not only do I agree with Kitkat but I also believe that showing PRIDE in one's language skills and education, would be a priority for most people. It seems that faulty grammar, bad spelling, slang and internet shorthand are almost like a badge of "courage". There is an excellent book by William A. Henry III, called "In Defense of Elitism" (and no, it's not what you think) which actually deals with the "dumbing down of American kids" through the "no kids left behind" initiative and the huge dis-service it's done to society. It's well worth the read.

Lack of discipline. People just don't care anymore, anyway. I use proper English (and spell check) because I want to promote intelligence. It is appreciated, though, I know. Do you know how many job applications I immediately throw away just because the applicant makes spelling mistakes? And I'm not talking about big ol'$10 words, either! When did the "dumbing down of America" start anyway?

"No child left behind" still can't read and write!

Poor Drake, you still don't get it do you? You are genuine American cannon fodder for sure. Be Proud! Get drunk.
