"Nietzsche is dead." Now that is original! I've never heard that one before. Well at least you're not pretending to quote God.
What Nietzsche actually said is "God is dead and we've killed him!" For Nietzsche, man created God as his most splendid and lasting idea. Gods (in various forms) have existed since before humans had fully developed what we moderns would call self-consciousness and their forms have become more and more refined and perfect overtime. However, like all of man's creations, they must eventually be destroyed to make way for new notions. When the madman proclaims "God is dead!" he is mourning a great loss. This is not something Nietzsche proclaimed out of smugness. This is the quote in full:
God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?

Yes. Frecrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900)
has been a has-been for quite a while.
As for God being dead, well, it's all a
matter of personal perspective. For a
non-believer, God never died--because
He was never alive to begin with.

Dead is technicaly the state of not being alive.
Nietzche is, as you say, dead.
Whether God, or whatever image you have of Him, is dead really depends on whether you think he was ever alive in the sense that you and I are alive (and in the sense that Nietzche once was).
If you believe that Jesus was God (or even part of God) and you believe that Jesus died, then yes, God is dead (and no one cares).
If you believe, as I do, that life and death are all part of a central heartbeat of God, then no. God has not died. Yet.
Or perhaps you believe that God is incapable of being alive, which would then mean that God is incapable of dying.
It all comes back to what you believe about your vision of God.

We live in the world of senses and, of course, that's all we have, or maybe not.
