I got pulled over in MD for having tint that was too dark. Luckily, my car is registered in GA as I was just traveling for job interviews, so he let me off with a warning, even though GA and MD have the same tint laws (he didn't know that though). I have 20%.
I've also been pulled over for running a stop sign, even though it should be a yield sign at that location. The guy in front of me ran it, I ran it, and my friend behind me ran it. I was the one who got stopped. And I've been pulled over for "taking a curve too fast". And last weekend, we went to the ATM, and since the bank is closed on weekends, we just used one of the seven handicapped spots in front of the bank since it's a walkup ATM. The truck was still running, I was still in it, and my girlfriend was less than 10 feet away at the ATM. A cop stopped and told us to move. Wrong? Sure, but I think there should be a little bit of leeway in that situation....
And for the guy above, I always got pulled over in my Honda. If a cop sees a modified Honda, he's pretty much going to pull it over if you give him any slight reason to. I now have a Subaru WRX and I drive the same, if not faster, and I've only been pulled over 4 times (two warnings, two tickets) in 2 years, compared to about 20 times in 2 years with the Honda.

I live in Harford County Maryland, (Hazard County if you live around here) Police simply have nothin better to do here. Friend of mine got a list of tickets while sitting in the high school parking lot a few years ago. Cop was waiting for him when he came out of school. Window tint too dark (25%) car too low, license plate turned sideways, door handles shaved, clear tail lights... I think that was all. A little uncalled for if you ask me, some of this I would say almost constitutes freedom of speech.
As for the window tint, check out this web site, It has a list of tint laws by state.

Never pulled over for my tint even though mine is illegal (way 2 dark) but, I was waiting for a parking spot and I got a ticket. The cop pulled up right behind and told me to pull over...hello I was already pulled over with my hazards on. He claimed I was "obstructing traffic"..there was no traffic. I was in a double parked position and there was one clear lane on my left hand side. Where was I suppose to go around the block until the guy moved his car out ???
I'm an emt so I showed him my badge and asked him if I can get a courtesy and he said that my badge didn't mean a thing and that he didn't care for it. I wonder if his mind would change if he was injured in the line of duty. Emt's are the ones that come to their aid, right ? Many other cops do give the courtesy.
Anyhow, he gave the ticket to my license instead of giving the car the ticket and when I asked him why didn't he give me a double parked ticket to the car and why he put it to my license he said "I could've be happy I didn't". Now. the ticket comes out to $250.00 plus 2 points on my license.
I got the ticket in October '06 and court date was April '07 but, was postponed until Sept '07...isn't this ridiculous ??? Almost a year waiting to fight a ticket.
This cop was definately on a role to meet his "QOUTA"...as I'm leaving because I even changed my mind about going shopping because he got me so upset.
He sees a car that stopped for no more than 3 seconds, this lady gets out the car (really quickly), and he keeps going and the cop rushed and did a u-turn so fast and turned on his lights and pulled him over. He got one too for obstructing a traffic lane...once again there was no traffic at all. This street was quite empty.
Well, this happened in the border of the Bronx and Manhattan, NY, USA.

Here in Arizona MANY cars have illegal tint. You will almost never get pulled over just for that here though. They mention it to me though, if I have been pulled over for something else. what I do is always do is roll all the windows down if I am pulled over. Thats probably the main issue for tint rules, for the officers safety, and makes the officer more comfortable.

I haven't but I did have some friends get pulled over. The cops use that as an excuse to pull you over to see what else you are doing, like drinking and driving or smoking weed, or some other illegal activity. It's just another excuse to get you.
