There were 17,458 positions open in 2001's midterm elections, but chances are, that number has grown.

Corruption aside, it's something that I happen to care about, considering over 23,000 people are going to lose out on holding public office.

Why does it matter. No matter who you vote for , they're going to be corrupt.

There are only 12 senators that need to be elected and these positions are the only national positions for grabs in the Philippine elections in 2007. The rest of the positions are for local government officials including the Congressmen per district who are only voted by their respective constituents.
