Every candidate seems to be under the impression that all you need to win the election is to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Granted, no one has ever suffered for underestimating the intelligence of the general public, but shouldn't they at least *act* like they're not bending over backwards to pander to the right wing theocrats?
