Associates degrees are two year degrees obtained at community colleges. Bachelors degrees are 4 years degrees obtained at 4 yr universities and colleges. Bachelors degrees are considered more well rounded than Associates degrees because you are required to not only take courses directly related to your major but basic liberal arts courses including languages, math, pscyhology, history, english, writing, business, and whatever that particular university requires. If you declare a major when you are accepted, like nursing, then you will take basic anatomy and physiology, chemistry, etc., but then you go into their school of, say nursing or business or pre-med or pre-law.
Associate degrees are from community colleges and usually involve taking classes directly related to your field of interest. It is considered by most to be more of a vocational degree.

The associate degree, a lower level degree, is typically awarded after two years' study. It is usually from a junior college. The bachelor's takes four typically and would come from a full college or university.

it used to be that an associates degree was about two years while you could estimate a bachelors would take about four and give you credentials to warrant and demonstrate your study and thinking...go for the bachelors because you can stair step to a masters if you are really intrigued with the subject matter....
