What do you mean by the "sixties"? Civil Rights? The sexual revolution? The Kennedy assassination? The Beatles and the rise of Rock & Roll? The Cuban missile crisis? The assassination of George Wallace? The fall and rise of Richard Nixon? Pop Art? So many things happened in the 1960s that had more or less to do with the Cold War that it is impossible to answer your question in a short forum like this unless you narrow down which events you refer to.
