Detroit has a high unemployment rate, and the economy is weak. If you are looking for a job in specific type of business, when you apply, make a copy of your application. Write down the managers name and phone number. After 5 days call them and leave a message. Mail a short thank you note saying thanks for talking with me and that you are still available.
You will have to network, talk to friends and neighbors about what jobs might be open.
Have you practiced your interview skills? Check out some books from the library. You have to have a very tight presentation. How is your clothing and grooming? Good luck.

I hate to say it, but if you fill out your application the same way that you are typing your question, I can see why a boss or manager would be hesitant to hire you.

You also have to remember that Michigan, especially the City of Detroit, is having serious money problems right now because of the auto companies. People are being laid off at a high rate and because of that, are not spending as much money as they were. When people don't spend money, business owners aren't making money and can't hire people to work.

You don't say what kind of job you are going for. All I can say is keep trying and maybe work on your English and writing skills. Bosses like their employees to be articulate and understandable.
