These things are never legitimate. Don't send out any bank or personal information, it's only a scam.

I get those all the time. The first thing to do is contact yahoo or do a search just to see if they have contest like that. Go to yahoo and type in contest. It'll give you a list of different contest and once you scroll down to find out if its it go see if you could find lottery. If you don't find it you are being scammed and its will be good to let Yahoo know about it.

You don't get anything for nothing, it's a scam do not answer do not give personal information. Just google scam and see how many hits yoou get, there are millions of them and they are all aimed at taking your money. An excellent site giving advice on how to recognise and avoid scams is at www.rz-berlin.mpg.de/~wm/wm-lotto.html Also If you go to the following link you will get some info on ID theft www.identity-theft.org.uk the iinternet is safe enough if you are careful but please answer nothing that you are doubtful about.Good Luck and be careful.

The e-mail is real. The scam is real. Why would somebody give you a million dollars for a contest that you never even heard of or entered anyway.
It's an empty bait for foolish greedy fish.
Also don't beilieve that some forgotten Nigerian prince [who doesn't really exist] or African pastor you never heard of wants to send you thousands of dollars from frozen accounts.

I am both sceptical and highly suspicious. Never heard of any Yahoo Lottery. Extreme caution. You are being asked to give personal details to complete strangers who may just turn out to be gangsters who are identity thieves.

BEWARE! Contact the help desk at Yahoo!

If you didn't enter it is most likely a scam. Even if it is legit foreign lotteries are illegal in the US and can lead to big trouble come tax time. Treat is as spam and delete it.

To be honest its probably best to ingore this email,i have never heard of yahoo doing anything like this so beware, the next email you will probably receive from them is asking you for your bank account details so that they can lodge the money for you when in fact they probably will withdraw all that is in there.. hope this helps Steve
