If we replaced wars with single combat between leaders or their champions, how would the military-industrial complex which President Eisenhower warned us about make any money?

People wouldnt honor the results of the match. Hey maybe we can start doing that with the olympics! So like if we win so many gold medals, then Iran has to disarm! Sounds good to me as long as it isnt determined by soccer. Not even the results of arbitrated politics would stir enough interest to get me watching!

That would only mean that we are fair... The last time I remember any country being close to fair is the American Civil War when leaders actually fought.

problem is it is not just the leaders, but ideas that are been fought over by both sides, so a fight by the leaders would not make a difference, since many more people are in line to pick up the baton after the leaders are gone.
