I was watching some youtube video guy who was a total kook (if you ask me), who was giving a lecture on a polar shift, or a magnetic shift, or something, that he thought is going to occur...
I'm not so sure about what he said, but just out of pure curiosity, would there be warning signs if this did occur? and would it be bad?
and it's happened before... right?
or do we really know what to expect?

OK, polar shift in the sense that you probably heard about it does not happen. There will never be a sudden rapid change in the geographic poles such as what is discussed in the earth crust displacement theory. The current hypothesis on this issue is that the poles never really moved. Continental drift has caused the illusion that the poles shifted. The magnetic poles reverse on occasion, but this happens once every 100,000 years on average. The last time it occurred was 800,000 years ago. The current magnetic field of the earth is weakening, but little is know about what occurs when a reversal happens. The largest effect this will have is on compasses. It will make them point in odd directions. That is the severity of a magnetic reversal. Climate change due to greenhouse gases is a completely different topic, and is actually occurring right now. There is not much we can do to stop what has been set in motion. All we can do with the greenhouse gases is ride out the changes, hope for the best, and LEARN from our mistakes. I hope this helped answer your question :)

There is evidence that polar shifts have happened before, about every hundred thousand years or so. There is also speculation that there are going to be solar storms around 2012, and that they may trigger a polar shift. In either occasion, there will be gravity fluctuations, tidal waves, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and possibly other catastrophic events. For a while(several minutes to a day or so) gravity may be doubled, then be half for just as long. I hope it is a few hundred or thousand years off.

yes it will occur, slowly though. and there are ready warning signs. seeing the auroas in Australia which happening. the poles are what create those lights when charged particles from the solar winds hit the magnetosphere.
when it does happen though the magnetoshpere will be out of commision for awhile and cataracts, sunburn hightened UV rays will occur and skin cancer too.

Both the geographic poles and magnetic poles wander a bit, the latter considerably more. In both cases, the motion is irregular and unpredictable.

we've lived with the risk of nuclear weapons for over 60 years. human beings being what they are somebody will detonate one interior the call of GOD. Then the worldwide will end as all of us be conscious of it.
