How do you decide. I usually pick the first one. It annoys me when I have the answer come up with it first and then it seems that other people read my answer and rephrase it and say the exact same thing, then gets the best answer??? I just asked a question and I have six exact answers. It makes me think that the other ones copied the first. How do you decide best answer when you have so many duplicate ones?

First one who said it without help is what I use. This can be tricky as the first encounter is not always the first who said it. Some do go back and copy others after answering. Others put down what someone else said from the start. Sometimes, it is a matter of coincidence. There are some questions that have limited answers, and there are of course either/or answers.
There are other ways to decide in such a case. Like the poster above me said, whoever has the best avatar/photo. Or there is giving it to whoever needs the points the most. Or let it go to vote and let the others decide it for you.

I give a best answer, usually for technical stuff, how to do stuff. The other things are just opinions, which don't deserve a "best answer" vote. Why does it matter?

You made your analysis when you answer ahead of others. Now you can do the same and wait till everyone answers.
And you can overview those opinions.

Well I personally answer BEFORE I read other's answers that way I'm giving my own opinion and my opinion is not tainted by someone elses.
